Case Study · Web Design
Calm, on purpose.
canDID Expressions is a peer-led creative community for adults living with dissociation. Its founder put the brief in one line: for people with a history of trauma, predictability is safety. We built a new WordPress site that reads calm and stays consistent from page to page, and that she can run herself.

The redesign.
Same mission, same words she already uses. The old homepage was mostly paragraphs of text. The new one gives the whole picture first, then lets people go deeper when they are ready: groups open now, the community's own writing and art, and ways to give back.

The part you cannot see.
A small nonprofit has no web team. The site has to keep working through the switch to a new build, and keep working after we hand it over. All 51 pages passed an accessibility scan on desktop and on a phone before launch.
60
old addresses, none broken
Every page address from the old site, including links sitting in past newsletters, still lands on the right page. Forty-nine redirect to their new home, and the rest kept their exact addresses.
16
paid forms still taking payments
All 27 of her forms came across. A forms export quietly leaves the payment settings behind, so registrations would have said thank you without charging a card. Those settings were rebuilt on every paid form before launch.
10
how-to guides in her dashboard
The founder runs the site herself. A start screen with nine buttons covers the jobs she actually does, each with its own step-by-step guide. Groups add themselves to the homepage and drop off the day after their last meeting.
