Case Study · Web Design

A site built for people arriving on the worst day of their year.

Michael Edsel is an evidential psychic medium in rural Virginia. Most people who find his website have recently lost someone. His old Wix template could not carry that, so we rebuilt it by hand: calmer to read, half the weight to load, and quiet about the people using it.

The redesign.

Same practice, same warmth, a different footing. The homepage now opens on a doorway that swings wide as you scroll.

The part you cannot see.

A pretty site that is slow, unusable with a screen reader, or quietly reporting on its visitors is not finished. This is the work that does not show up in a screenshot.

57%

lighter homepage

The doorway animation was 97 images loading at once. Rebuilt to 49, streaming in after the first one has already painted, so the page is usable before the animation finishes arriving.

9

accessibility barriers closed

A full WCAG 2.1 AA audit before launch. A carousel that could not be paused, no skip link, a missing page heading, a focus ring invisible on dark sections. All fixed.

0

trackers or advertising cookies

No analytics scripts, no pixels, no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to. His privacy policy says the site tracks nobody, and that is true.
